# Netlify: create a build (deploy) hook

## Steps
1. Open Project configuration → Developer settings → Continuous deployment → Build hooks.
2. Select Add build hook.
3. Enter a name (shown in the hook list and as the default deploy message for triggered deploys).
4. Select a branch to build by default (only branches already deployed at least once are listed).
5. Save to generate the hook's unique URL.

## End state
Sending a POST request to the hook URL triggers a new build/deploy; optional query params `trigger_branch`, `trigger_title`, and `clear_cache=true` override the branch, deploy message, or force a cache-cleared build.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
