# Netlify: create a new project from Git

## Steps
1. Go to your team's Projects page.
2. Open the Add new project menu.
3. Select Import an existing project.
4. Select the Git provider hosting the repository (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps, or Cursor Origin).
5. Select the repository.
6. Adjust site/build settings if needed, then deploy.

## End state
The project is created and its first deploy starts; subsequent pushes to the connected branch trigger automatic continuous deployment.

## Moved from
Current Netlify docs call the deployed unit a "project" ("Add new project", "Project configuration") rather than the older "site" terminology; the underlying concept (one deployed app/site) is unchanged.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
