# Neon console: create a database role

## Steps
1. Select a project, then select the branch from the BRANCH selector in the sidebar.
2. Under Postgres database, select Roles.
3. Click Add role.
4. In the role creation modal, specify a role name (the branch is pre-selected and cannot be changed in this dialog).
5. Click Create.

## End state
The console shows the generated password for the new role once; roles created via Console, CLI, or API all receive `neon_superuser` membership (CREATEDB, CREATEROLE, BYPASSRLS, REPLICATION) by default.
