# MongoDB Atlas: invite a user to the organization

## Steps
1. Go to the organization's Access Manager page.
2. Click Invite Users.
3. On the Add Users page, type the new user's email address (or Jira username) into the combo box, then press Enter or click the suggested entry under New User.
4. Each user defaults to the Organization Member role; open the role dropdown to add/change roles for that user.
5. Click Add Users to Organization.

## End state
Atlas sends an invitation email; the invite is pending until accepted (invitations expire after 30 days). Requires Project Access Manager or Organization Owner access to perform.

## Moved from
Direct project-level invitations ("Invite to Project") were deprecated on the 2023-09-13 Atlas release: adding a user to the organization now auto-grants them access to the projects an admin assigns, without a separate per-project invite step.
