# Okta Admin Console: manually assign people to a group

## Steps
1. Go to Directory → Groups.
2. Select a group from the list.
3. Click Assign people.
4. Enter a user's first name, primary email, or username in the search field.
5. Click Assign next to the matching person.

## End state
The person appears on the group's People list immediately; any group-based app assignments or policies take effect for them.

## Note
Okta also supports bulk group assignment via CSV import, group rules, directory sync, and group push as alternatives to this manual path.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
