# Supabase: reset a project's database password — Project Settings → Database → Database password → Reset password

## Steps
1. Open the project's **Project Settings** > **Database** section of the Dashboard.
2. Find the **Database password** field and reset it from there.

## End state
A new direct-Postgres password is generated and is not retrievable afterward (not stored in cleartext). Using the Dashboard reset (rather than `ALTER ROLE` directly in the SQL Editor) is the documented path because it also rotates the connection strings used by Supabase-managed services (pooler, PostgREST, Auth, Studio); it can take a few minutes to fully take effect, and connections through the shared pooler may briefly return a `28P01` auth error immediately afterward.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
