# Supabase: transfer organization ownership — Team settings → promote a member to Owner → (current owner) Leave team

## Steps
1. In the organization's **Team** settings, either invite a new user as **Owner** and wait for them to accept, or promote an existing member to **Owner**.
2. Once another Owner exists, the original owner can relinquish ownership and leave by clicking **Leave team** in the same Team settings page.

## End state
The organization retains at least one Owner at all times (Supabase requires this); the departing owner no longer has access once they leave.
