# Supabase: pause a project — Settings → General → Project availability → Pause Project

## Steps
1. In the Supabase Dashboard, go to the project's **Settings** > **General**.
2. Under **Project availability**, click **Pause Project**.

## End state
The project stops incurring compute charges; its data is preserved and the project becomes inaccessible until resumed. Only Free-plan projects can be paused this way (paid-plan projects aren't eligible to be manually paused).
