# Cloudflare: add a redirect rule — Rules → Overview → Create rule → Redirect Rule → Deploy

## Steps
1. In the Cloudflare dashboard, go to the Rules **Overview** page.
2. Select **Create rule** > **Redirect Rule**.
3. Optionally select a rule template, then review/adjust it.
4. Enter a descriptive name in **Rule name**.
5. Under **When incoming requests match**, choose **Wildcard pattern**, **All incoming requests**, or **Custom filter expression**, then define the **Target URL**, **Status code**, and **Preserve query string** settings.
6. Select **Deploy** to save and activate the rule, or **Save as Draft** to hold it.

## End state
The redirect rule is listed under the zone's rules and (once deployed) starts redirecting matching requests. Single Redirects require the matched hostname's DNS record to be proxied by Cloudflare.
