# Jira Cloud: create an automation rule — Project settings → Automation → Create rule

## Steps
1. Open the project, then in the lower-left corner select "Project settings" (or from the top-right "Settings" → "Projects" → select the project).
2. In the sidebar, select "Automation".
3. Select "Create rule" in the top right.
4. Select a trigger, configure its settings, and select "Save".
5. Select "New action", "New condition", or "Branch rule" as needed, configuring each and selecting "Save".
6. Repeat as needed to build the rule.
7. Give the rule a name and enable it.

## End state
The rule appears in the project's Automation list as "On"/enabled; it fires on the configured trigger and performs its actions, with an audit log of each run visible on the same page.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
