# Figma: publish a library — Assets panel → Library icon → This file → Publish

## Steps
1. Open the "Assets" panel in the left sidebar of a file and click the "Library" icon.
2. In the "This file" section, click "Publish" next to the file name.
3. Enter a description of the changes made (recorded in the file's version history).
4. Click "Publish" to share the styles, components, and variables as a library.

## End state
The assets become available to other files via "Assets" → the library's enabled toggle; publishing requires a paid plan, and the file's version history records the published description.
