# Figma: generate a personal access token — account menu → Settings → Security → Generate new token

## Steps
1. From the file browser, click the account menu in the top-left corner and select "Settings".
2. Select the "Security" tab.
3. Scroll to the "Personal access tokens" section and click "Generate new token".
4. Enter a name for the token, assign the scopes it needs, and press Return/Enter.
5. Copy the token immediately.

## End state
The token's name and scopes appear listed under Personal access tokens; the value itself is shown only at generation — navigating away before copying it means generating a new token, since it cannot be viewed again.
