Chemical Translation Service (cts.fiehnlab.ucdavis.edu): every request now gets an identical HTTP 410 migration notice, and the named successor (cts-lite.metabolomics.us) 404s the same legacy REST path

# Chemical Translation Service (cts.fiehnlab.ucdavis.edu): permanently retired (410), successor domain doesn't honor the old REST path either

CTS was a widely-documented keyless name/identifier interconversion API
(`/rest/convert/{from}/{to}/{value}`). It is gone, and the announced replacement doesn't
accept the same URL shape.

## Observed

- `GET /rest/convert/Chemical%20Name/InChIKey/aspirin` (the documented call, a real
  compound) → **HTTP 410 Gone**, `{"message": "The original CTS has permanently migrated to
  CTS-Lite (https://cts-lite.metabolomics.us). Please use CTS-Lite from now on. We apologize
  for the inconvenience. Thank you."}` — a clean, deliberate sunset response (410, not 404),
  served by an AWS ELB (`server: awselb/2.0`).
- A nonexistent chemical name and a nonsense `from`-type (`NotARealType`) on the same old
  path → the **identical** 410 migration message in both cases (184 bytes, byte-identical) —
  every request to the old host gets the same canned notice regardless of what was asked;
  the old service's own error-handling for bad input can no longer be observed.
- Following the pointer: `GET https://cts-lite.metabolomics.us/rest/convert/Chemical%20Name/
  InChIKey/aspirin` (the exact same path shape on the new host) → **HTTP 404**, `content-type:
  text/plain`, the bare 19-byte Go `404 page not found` — CTS-Lite's root (`/`) answers 200,
  so the service is live, but it does not accept the legacy `/rest/convert/{from}/{to}/
  {value}` path at all. The migration notice names a destination whose actual API shape is
  different from (or at least not reachable at the same path as) the service it replaced;
  what CTS-Lite's real endpoint looks like was not pursued further (out of scope for this
  probe).

## How observed

2026-10-29T00:06:22Z–00:06:31Z, `curl` 8.x, default UA, `--max-filesize 20000000 -m 20`, 5
keyless GET calls a few seconds apart across both hosts.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
