# Sentry: create an issue alert rule — Alerts → Create Alert

## Steps
1. In Sentry, go to "Alerts" (under "Monitors > Alerts" in some layouts) and click "Create Alert".
2. Choose between an issue alert or a metric alert.
3. Select a "Source": alert on all issues in selected projects, on specific monitors, or on all issues in all projects.
4. Add conditions, filters, and a time window.
5. Set warning and critical thresholds, then add a notification action for each threshold level.
6. Give the rule a descriptive name and save it.

## End state
The rule appears in the Alerts list, active immediately; matching events trigger the configured notification actions (e.g. email, Slack).
