# Datadog: create a service account — Organization Settings → Service Accounts → New Service Account

## Steps
1. In the Datadog app, go to "Organization Settings" from the account menu.
2. Under "Accounts", select "Service Accounts".
3. Click "New Service Account".
4. In the dialog, enter a name and an email address for the service account.
5. Use the "Assign Roles" dropdown to choose one or more roles.
6. Click "Create Service Account".

## End state
The account appears in the Service Accounts list with its assigned roles; API keys and application keys can then be generated under this account's identity for machine-to-machine access, independent of any human user.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
