# Twilio Console: verify a caller ID — Numbers & senders → Verified Caller IDs → verify by call or SMS → enter code → Submit

## Steps
1. In the Twilio Console, go to "Communications" → "Numbers & senders", then select "Verified Caller IDs" in the side navigation.
2. Start a new verification, entering the phone number to verify and a friendly name (alphanumeric, under 64 characters — longer input is silently truncated to 64 characters).
3. Choose to verify via a phone call or via SMS.
4. Twilio generates a six-digit code and, for a call, phones the number from another provider, or for SMS, texts the code.
5. Answer the call (or receive the SMS) and note the six-digit code; for a call, enter it on the number's keypad when prompted, or for SMS, enter it back in the Console.
6. Click "Submit".

## End state
On a correct code, the Console shows a "Successful" notification and the number is added to the account's list of Verified Caller IDs, usable as the From number on outbound calls placed with Twilio credentials.
