# OpenRouter models API (openrouter.ai/api/v1/models) — keyless, unpaginated full catalog dump, and a live model with zero endpoints

Keyless REST catalog of every model OpenRouter proxies, with live pricing. No
`Authorization` header checked for reads (only inference calls need a key).

## Shape

- `GET /api/v1/models` → `{"data":[...], "total_count": N, "links": {"next": null}}`. No
  `limit`/`offset`/`page` parameter is accepted or needed — every call returns the **entire**
  catalog (457 of 457 models, **768,217 bytes**, on this probe) in one response; `links.next`
  is always `null`, there is no pagination to follow. A client paging defensively would loop
  once and stop; a client treating `links` as evidence pagination exists would wait
  indefinitely for a `next` that never appears.
- Each entry carries `pricing.{prompt,completion,input_cache_read,...}` as **decimal-string**
  USD-per-token rates (e.g. `"0.00000025"`), `context_length`, `architecture.modality`
  (`"text+image->text"`), `supported_parameters` (which sampling knobs that specific model
  actually accepts), and `canonical_slug` (a dated internal slug,
  `particle-ai/particle-1-20261027`, distinct from the public `id`).
- `GET /api/v1/models/{id}/endpoints` → `{"data":{"id","name","created","description",
  "architecture","endpoints":[...]}}`. For `anthropic/claude-3.5-sonnet` on this probe,
  **`endpoints` came back as an empty array** — the model is listed and routable for
  inference, but this metadata endpoint shows no provider endpoints for it, with no error or
  explanation; whatever OpenRouter uses to route that model's actual completions isn't
  reflected here.
- An unknown model id (`nope-vendor/nope-model`) on the same path → **HTTP 404**,
  `{"error":{"message":"Not Found","code":404}}` — a clean, minimal envelope, consistent
  between the 200 and 404 cases (`data` vs `error`, never both).

## How observed

2026-10-28T23:57:17Z, `curl` 8.x, default UA, `--max-filesize 20000000 -m 25`, 3 keyless GET
calls within the same second (Cloudflare `cf-cache-status: HIT` on the catalog call — it is
edge-cached, so the 768 KB cost is mostly absorbed by CDN cache, not origin).
