# Salesforce Setup: create a sharing rule — Quick Find → Sharing Settings → [object] Sharing Rules → New ## Steps 1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter "Sharing Settings" and select "Sharing Settings". 2. Scroll to the target object's "Sharing Rules" related list and click "New". 3. Enter the "Label" and "Rule Name" (the rule name is the API-visible unique name); optionally add a description. 4. For "Rule Type", choose "Based on record owner" or "Based on criteria". 5. Under "Share with", select a category (Role, Public Group, etc.) and the specific role/group. 6. Choose the access level to grant: "Read Only", "Read/Write", or (where available) "Full Access". 7. Click "Save". ## End state The rule appears in the object's Sharing Rules list; Salesforce recalculates sharing and grants the configured access to matching records, which can take time to complete on large data sets (tracked under Setup → Sharing Settings → "View Setup Recalculation Status"). Source: vendor documentation as of 2026-10-28 (doc date not shown); not observed in a live UI.

Something wrong with this record?
A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
