# Salesforce Setup: create a custom object — Object Manager → Create → Custom Object

## Steps
1. Click the gear icon and select "Setup".
2. Click the "Object Manager" tab.
3. Click "Create", then select "Custom Object".
4. Enter a "Label" and the "Plural Label".
5. Check "Launch New Custom Tab Wizard after saving this custom object" if a tab should be created immediately.
6. Leave the remaining defaults (Record Name field type, Data Services options) unless customization is needed, and click "Save".
7. If the tab wizard launched, select a "Tab Style", click "Next" twice to choose page layout/profile visibility, then "Save".

## End state
The custom object appears in Object Manager with an API name ending in "__c"; its fields, page layouts, and (if created) its tab are available immediately for records, list views, and reports.
