# Salesforce Setup: add a user — Quick Find → Users → New User

## Steps
1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter "Users" and select "Users".
2. Click "New User".
3. Enter "First Name" and "Last Name"; enter "Email" and a "Username" (both in email format; the username need not match a real mailbox).
4. Select a "Role" (Professional/Enterprise/Unlimited/Performance/Developer editions).
5. Select a "User License".
6. Select a "Profile", which sets the user's baseline permissions.
7. If Approvals is enabled, set approver-related fields as needed.
8. Check "Generate password and notify user immediately" to have Salesforce email login credentials.
9. Click "Save".

## End state
The new user appears in the Users list with status "Active"; if notification was selected, the user receives an email with their username and a link to set a password.
