# Microsoft Entra admin center: create a security group — Entra ID → Groups → All groups → New group

## Steps
1. Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center as at least a Groups Administrator.
2. Browse to Entra ID → Groups → All groups.
3. Select "New group".
4. Under "Group type", select "Security".
5. Enter a "Group name" and optional description.
6. Add initial "Members" and "Owners".
7. Review settings and select "Create".

## End state
The new group appears in All groups with type "Security" and the chosen member/owner count; it can immediately be used for role or access assignment.
