# Google Workspace Admin: turn on and enforce 2-Step Verification — Security → Authentication → 2-step verification

## Steps
1. Sign in to admin.google.com as a super admin.
2. Menu → Security → Authentication → "2-step verification" (also reachable directly at admin.google.com/ac/security/2sv).
3. To allow it: check "Allow users to turn on 2-Step Verification", set "Enforcement" to "Off", and click "Save".
4. To enforce it: with "Allow users to turn on 2-Step Verification" checked, set "Enforcement" to "On" (effective immediately) or "Turn on enforcement from date" (pick a future date).
5. Optionally set "New user enrollment period" and under "Methods" choose "Any", "Any except verification codes via text, phone call", or "Only security key".
6. Click "Save".

## End state
The selected organizational units/groups show "Enforcement: On" (or the scheduled date) on the 2-step verification page; users not yet enrolled are prompted to enroll within the configured window.
