# Linear: make a team a sub-team — Settings → Your teams → team → Team hierarchy → choose parent team

## Steps
1. Either during team creation, open "Team hierarchy" and select a parent team; or for an existing team, go to Settings → Your teams → select the team → "Team hierarchy" and choose a parent team.
2. This can also be reached by hovering the team name in the sidebar and opening its three-dot menu.

## End state
The team is now nested under the chosen parent team in the sidebar and team hierarchy views.

## Note
Requires admin permissions.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
