# Linear: enable cycles and start one — Team Settings → Cycles → Enable cycles; Cycles page → ⋯ → Start cycle today

## Steps
1. Go to Team Settings → "Cycles" for the team.
2. Turn on the "Enable cycles" toggle.
3. To start the next cycle early: from the Cycles page, click the overflow menu (⋯) on the upcoming cycle and choose "Start cycle today".

## End state
Cycles are now active for the team and issues can be assigned to them; the chosen cycle's start date moves to today and it becomes the current cycle.

## Note
To rename or redescribe an existing cycle, use the same overflow menu's "Edit cycle..." option from the Cycles view.
