# Cloudflare: create an API token — My Profile/Manage Account → API Tokens → Create Token

## Steps
1. For a user-scoped token: Cloudflare dashboard → "My Profile" → "API Tokens".
2. For an account-scoped token: dashboard → "Manage Account" → "API Tokens".
3. Select "Create Token".
4. Choose a template or build a custom token with specific permissions and resource scope, then create it.

## End state
The token value is shown once; it is listed afterward (without the value) under API Tokens, and authenticates API requests with exactly the permissions scoped to it.
