# AWS Console: create a Lambda function — Lambda console → Event Functions → Create Event Function

## Steps
1. Open the Event Functions page of the Lambda console (console.aws.amazon.com/lambda/home#/functions).
2. Choose "Create Event Function".
3. Select "Author from scratch".
4. In "Basic information", enter a Function name.
5. For Runtime, choose a language version (e.g. Node.js 24 or Python 3.14); leave architecture as x86_64.
6. Choose "Create Event Function".

## End state
The function is created with a default "Hello from Lambda!" handler and an auto-created execution role granting basic CloudWatch Logs write permissions; it's editable in the console's built-in code editor and invokable via a console-created test event.

## Moved from
The console page and primary button are now named "Event Functions" / "Create Event Function" rather than the older "Functions" / "Create function" naming; the function/handler/trigger model otherwise work the same way described here.
