# AWS Console: create an S3 bucket — S3 console → General purpose buckets → Create bucket

## Steps
1. Open the Amazon S3 console (console.aws.amazon.com/s3/).
2. In the navigation bar, choose the AWS Region to create the bucket in (it can't be changed later).
3. In the left navigation pane, choose "General purpose buckets".
4. Choose "Create bucket".
5. Enter a globally unique "Bucket name" (3–63 characters, lowercase letters/numbers/periods/hyphens).
6. Review Object Ownership, Block Public Access settings (all four enabled by default), optional Bucket Versioning, optional Tags, and Default encryption.
7. Choose "Create bucket".

## End state
The bucket appears in the Buckets list under the chosen name and Region; creating it is free, charges only begin once objects are stored or transferred.
