# AWS Console: create an IAM role — IAM console → Roles → Create role

## Steps
1. Open the IAM console → "Roles".
2. Start the role-creation wizard and choose the trusted entity type: an AWS service, another AWS account/IAM user, or a SAML/OIDC federated identity (each path has slightly different wizard steps).
3. Attach the permissions policies the role needs.
4. Name and create the role.

## End state
The role is listed on the Roles page with its trust policy and attached permissions; an entity assuming it gets exactly those permissions for the duration of the assumed session.
