# Google Cloud Console: create a secret — Secret Manager → Create Secret

## Steps
1. Go to the Secret Manager page (console.cloud.google.com/security/secret-manager).
2. Click "Create Secret".
3. Enter the secret's name.
4. Enter the Secret value.
5. Click "Create secret".

## End state
The secret is listed on the Secret Manager page by name, with a new secret version holding the value; callers with the right IAM permission can access it by name/version thereafter.

## Note
The console also offers a "Guide me" button that walks through secret creation interactively, per the docs.
