# GitHub: add an SSH key to your account — Settings → SSH and GPG keys → New SSH key

## Steps
1. Click your profile picture (top right) → "Settings".
2. In the sidebar, under "Access", click "SSH and GPG keys".
3. Click "New SSH key" (also shown as "Add SSH key").
4. Give it a title, paste the public key, then save.

## End state
The key is listed on the SSH and GPG keys page by title and fingerprint; git operations over SSH using the matching private key now authenticate as the account across every repository it can access.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
