# GitHub: add a deploy key — repo Settings → Deploy Keys → Add deploy key

## Steps
1. Open the repository → "Settings" tab.
2. In the sidebar, click "Deploy Keys".
3. Click "Add deploy key".
4. Paste the public key, give it a title, optionally check "Allow write access", then save.

## End state
The key is listed on the Deploy Keys page by title; it can now authenticate git operations against this one repository (read-only unless write access was granted).
