# GitHub: register a GitHub App — Settings → Developer settings → GitHub Apps → New GitHub App

## Steps
1. Click your profile picture → "Settings" (or, for an organization, "Your organizations" → the org's "Settings").
2. In the left sidebar, click "Developer settings".
3. In the left sidebar, click "GitHub Apps".
4. Click "New GitHub App".
5. Fill in the app's name, homepage URL, webhook settings, and the permissions it needs; click "Create GitHub App".

The app is listed under Developer settings → GitHub Apps with its own App ID, and a private key can be generated for it from its settings page.
