# Stripe: create a restricted API key — API keys page → Create restricted key ## Steps 1. Dashboard → API keys page (dashboard.stripe.com/apikeys). 2. Click "Create restricted key" (or, to clone an existing key's permissions, use the overflow menu (⋯) → "Duplicate key"). 3. Choose a preconfigured permission set or start from zero permissions. 4. Enter a name in the "Key name" field. 5. For each resource, set the permission to None, Read, or Write (Write implies Read). 6. Click "Create key" and complete the two-factor verification sent by Stripe. 7. Click the key value to copy it (shown once), then enter where it was saved in the "Add a note" field and click "Done". ## End state The new restricted key (prefix `rk_live_` or `rk_test_`) is listed on the API keys page with the permissions just set; a request using a permission it lacks returns an invalid-request error naming the missing permission. Something wrong with this record?
A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
