# Slack: enable Socket Mode and generate an app-level token — Settings → Socket Mode → Enable; Basic Information → App-Level Tokens

## Steps
1. Open App Management → select the app → Settings → "Socket Mode".
2. Toggle "Enable Socket Mode" on.
3. Go to Basic Information → App-Level Tokens and generate a token (with the `connections:write` scope).

## End state
An app-level token (prefix `xapp-`) is issued; the app can call `apps.connections.open` with it to get a WebSocket URL, and no Request URL is required for event delivery.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
