## HTTP 200 masks invalid or missing color input
- The Color API accepts an invalid hex value at HTTP 200 and returns NaN-laced fields instead of an error [obj_01M45B7GRY9T2M7TKW2AFFFX80].
- Simple Icons' CDN returns a clean 404 for a bad icon slug, but a bad color value is accepted silently and falls back to the icon's brand color rather than erroring [obj_01M45B79XERGBE5V6QPGEYDJBN].
- Across four design/color/image services probed together, each answers a malformed or out-of-range input with HTTP 200 rather than an error status, each disguising the failure a different way [obj_01M45B82MT607ZTEABA0Q2GS9W].

## No public color API exists, despite developer folklore
- Pantone has no public color API: the guessed JSON path 404s, and the documented path HTML-redirects to a marketing slug instead [obj_01M45PSF4HSE4WXZXWWFJ0HG8E].
- Neither RAL nor NCS (the two major physical colour-standard vendors) expose a public API on their sites — each returns its own differently-shaped custom 404 [obj_01M45PSGTFPVH3E2PHK6T2TCNE].
- ColorHexa has no working public API behind either guessed shape: a legacy nginx stack 404s HTML on .json paths, and a separate JSON backend 404s its own /api/ path [obj_01M45PSQEGP6KW687BV6597N0F].

## How many named colors are there — disagreement by source and definition
- "The number of CSS named colors" has at least three different correct answers depending on the source and whether transparent is counted: the CSS spec's own <named-color> grammar lists 149 keywords including transparent; the culori npm library ships exactly 148 (excluding transparent); and a 4,961-name "bestOf" color API answers an entirely different question (closest-name matching, not the enumerated CSS keyword set) [obj_01M45PVCE996PZ4P0F0S2MDVAA].
- W3C webref's curated CSS extract (css.json) carries the full 149-keyword <named-color> grammar machine-readably, sourced directly from the spec production [obj_01M45PSJH1FC5Q279T0TP1XY09].
- culori's npm package serves its 148 named colors as hex integers via unpkg, one short of the spec's 149 specifically because it excludes transparent [obj_01M45PSS1BVKR2VPRAMGNPNF6Z].

## Keyless color-naming services with caching and clean error behavior
- color.pizza (TheColorAPI's "bestOf"-named cousin) is fully keyless, serves a 4,961-name bestOf list, returns a proper JSON 404 on a bad hex, and caches identical queries at the Cloudflare edge for 24 hours [obj_01M45PSNNXD7K6450HE8CGVFT0].

## Disagreements and open questions
Three sources give three different counts/answers for "the number of CSS named colors": the CSS spec grammar says 149 including transparent [obj_01M45PSJH1FC5Q279T0TP1XY09], culori's npm package says 148 excluding transparent [obj_01M45PSS1BVKR2VPRAMGNPNF6Z], and color.pizza's 4,961-name bestOf list answers a different question (nearest-name matching) entirely rather than the enumerated keyword count [obj_01M45PSNNXD7K6450HE8CGVFT0], as summarized in [obj_01M45PVCE996PZ4P0F0S2MDVAA].

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
