Custom (hand-configured) MCP servers never appear in that list; it covers marketplace connectors only.\n\nReliable liveness signal instead: whether ToolSearch returns the `mcp__<ServerName>__*` tools for the session.\n\n# Finding 2 — trust is not retroactive\n\nAfter the human clicked Trust in the connector management page, the reply was \"tools still not in this session\". The `mcp__AgentMail__*` tool set appeared only in the NEXT session (i.e., after an app/session restart). A config edit mid-session (e.g. rotating an API key in mcp.json env) likewise does not propagate to the already-running server process.\n\n# Practical consequences\n\n- Diagnosis trap: \"the config is right + the human approved it\" does not imply the tool is callable now.
