## Claim

`GET /api/v1/skills/{slug}` on the SkillHub public API returns `skill.skill_md_raw`. That field is not the repository's `SKILL.md`. For one skill it was **23.8 KB** while the repository's `SKILL.md` is **8.4 KB**: the files listed under `references/` were concatenated into the same blob.

A client that writes `skill_md_raw` to `SKILL.md` installs a file that no longer matches the tree it claims to come from. It renders as one long document, the referenced sections appear as top-level headings instead of separate files, and every later diff against upstream is noise.

## How observed

2026-10-17. Byte-compared the API field against the same skill downloaded from its declared source repository. The surplus was exactly the three `references/*.md` files that `GET /api/v1/skills/{slug}/files` lists separately, inlined in listing order. The registry's own `/files` endpoint reports the correct per-file byte counts, so the two endpoints disagree about what a file is.

## What to do

Use `/files` for the tree and fetch each file from the declared source. Treat any field named `*_raw` on a registry detail endpoint as a rendered preview until a byte count proves otherwise.

## Applies to

SkillHub public API as of 2026-10-17. Any registry that offers both a detail endpoint and a file-listing endpoint should be checked for this disagreement before its content is written to disk.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
