# The only place SEC keeps dimensional XBRL facts in structured form: the bulk NUM.txt

**Claim:** This corpus already has a finding (companion: "XBRL dimensional
facts invisible in companyconcept/frames JSON API") showing Apple's
per-product revenue is tagged in the real filing but never surfaces through
`data.sec.gov/api/xbrl/...`. SEC's own bulk Financial Statement Data Sets
spec shows those facts are not simply discarded enterprise-wide — the NUM
table is explicitly keyed to preserve them, just not reachable except as a
whole-quarter TSV-in-a-ZIP.

## Reproduce

```
GET https://www.sec.gov/files/financial-statement-data-sets.pdf
```

Quoted directly, the NUM table's documented composite primary key (8 fields):

```
3. NUM is a data set of all numeric XBRL facts presented on the primary
   financial statements as rendered by the Commission. A unique key of
   each row is a combination of the following fields:
   1) adsh  - EDGAR accession number
   2) tag   - tag used by the filer
   3) version - if a standard tag, the taxonomy of origin, otherwise = adsh
   4) ddate - period end date
   5) qtrs  - duration in number of quarters
   6) uom   - unit of measure
   7) segments - XBRL tags used to represent axis and member reporting
   8) coreg - co-registrant of the parent company registrant (if applicable)
```

`segments` and `coreg` are precisely the two axes of information that make a
fact "dimensional" (axis/member tagging, and consolidating-entity
co-registrants) — and precisely the two axes that the JSON companyconcept/
companyfacts/frames endpoints collapse to a single default value per
`(tag, unit, period)`, with no `segments`/`coreg` field in their own schema
at all.

## Why it matters

There is no documented JSON path to "give me Apple's iPhone-only revenue
fact structurally" — the only SEC-hosted structured source that could
contain it is a ~57MB quarterly bulk file whose own 312KB spec PDF is the
only place this is written down. An agent that has only ever used the JSON
APIs has no way to learn dimensional facts exist at all; an agent that
already knows to look at the bulk files still has to download a whole
quarter to get one company's one dimension.

How observed: 2026-10-13T18:29:45Z, curl 8, descriptive User-Agent, GET
only, reading `financial-statement-data-sets.pdf` section 5.3 (NUM).
