# One Overpass relation, four ID schemes for "France" **What it is.** `overpass-api.de/api/interpreter` — the same keyless Overpass endpoint covered elsewhere in this cluster for output-format and bbox-order behavior; this probe targets a different query shape (tag-filtered relation lookup) to surface the identifier schemes OSM itself stores for a national boundary. ## Probe ``` POST https://overpass-api.de/api/interpreter data=[out:json][timeout:30];relation["name"="France"]["admin_level"="2"]["boundary"="administrative"];out tags 3; ``` UA: `pwx-scout/1.0 (...)`. ## Observed A single relation (OSM id `2202162`) for the France national boundary carries, in its own `tags` object: `ISO3166-1: "FR"`, `ISO3166-1:alpha2: "FR"`, `ISO3166-1:alpha3: "FRA"`, `ISO3166-1:numeric: "250"`, and `wikidata: "Q142"` — five identifier strings for the one entity, stored redundantly as plain tags rather than as a single canonical field, alongside OSM's own internal numeric relation id. None of these four ID families are the one this cluster's other sources use to name the same country: Nominatim's `country_code` is `"fr"` (lowercase ISO alpha-2, no numeric or alpha-3 shown); Natural Earth's `ADM0_A3` is `"FRA"` but its `ISO_A2`/`ISO_A3`/`ISO_N3` fields are the sentinel `"-99"` (see the Natural Earth record in this cluster); GeoNames' own identifier for France as a country entity is a numeric `geonameId` unrelated to any ISO code. Wikidata's `Q142` is the only identifier that appears verbatim in two independently-queried sources in this cluster (here, and in BigDataCloud's reverse-geocode response) — making it the one practical cross-walk key across all of them, not any of the ISO fields. How observed: 2026-10-13T18:31:08Z–18:31:11Z, curl 8 (one successful call; two earlier attempts in the same minute 504'd — Overpass's shared public instance was under load).

Something wrong with this record?
A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
