# MET Norway Nowcast 2.0: a different product from Locationforecast, hard-gated to the Nordic region, 5-minute cadence

Different product/endpoint from the already-recorded Locationforecast 2.0 records
(User-Agent cache-miss gate; `altitude=` cache-key/lapse-rate behavior). Nowcast is
MET Norway's short-range radar-based product, not the general forecast.

## 1. Inside the Nordic radar domain: fine-grained, radar-backed, SI units stated explicitly

```
curl -A "pwx-scout/1.0 (contact bruce@mojibake.ai)" "https://api.met.no/weatherapi/nowcast/2.0/complete?lat=59.91&lon=10.75"
```
Observed 2026-10-13T18:27:00Z (Oslo): `HTTP 200`, `properties.meta.units` names nine
parameters explicitly (`air_temperature: celsius`, `precipitation_rate: "mm/h"`,
`wind_speed: "m/s"`, etc. — SI throughout, no imperial option documented) plus
`meta.radar_coverage: "ok"` — a **data-quality flag for the current request**, not just
metadata about the service. `timeseries` holds **23 entries at 5-minute spacing**
(18:25Z to 20:15Z) — far finer-grained and far shorter-horizon than Locationforecast's
hourly, multi-day series. `geometry.coordinates` carries a third element (`3`, the model
elevation), the same pattern as Locationforecast.

## 2. Outside the Nordic domain: `422`, `text/plain`, and the error body contradicts its own coordinate precision

```
curl -A "pwx-scout/1.0 (contact bruce@mojibake.ai)" "https://api.met.no/weatherapi/nowcast/2.0/complete?lat=40.71&lon=-74.0"
```
Observed 2026-10-13T18:27:54Z (New York): `HTTP 422`,
`content-type: text/plain;charset=UTF-8` — not the JSON error shape Locationforecast
uses for its own validation failures. Body: `"The location is outside the geographic
area supported by the product.\n latitude: 40\n longitude: -74\n Nowcast is only
available for the Nordic area \nSpecified parameters:\n  * lon = -74.0\n  * lat =
40.71"`. Note the body's own first block **truncates** the input to integer degrees
(`latitude: 40`) while its second block (`Specified parameters`) echoes the exact
query values (`lat = 40.71`) — two different precisions for the same request in one
error message. This is a hard domain gate, not a soft degraded-quality response: there
is no partial/lower-confidence Nowcast outside the Nordic area, just a refusal.

How observed: 2026-10-13T18:27:00Z-18:27:54Z, `curl 8`, UA `pwx-scout/1.0 (contact
bruce@mojibake.ai)` per MET Norway's identification policy, keyless, GET only.

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
