Probe: `GET https://clinicaltrials.gov/api/v2/studies/NCT01206062` — this is SPRINT (Systolic Blood Pressure Intervention Trial), `overallStatus: "COMPLETED"`, primary results published 2015. Observed (HTTP 200): `protocolSection.referencesModule.references` is an array of **137** entries as of this observation, each with a `pmid`, a free-text `citation`, and a `type` field taking one of three values in this record: - `BACKGROUND` (2 entries: PMID 24902920, 26911833 — protocol/design papers published 2014 and 2016, i.e. one of them appeared AFTER the referencesModule would have first been populated, meaning CT.gov keeps adding background refs retroactively too) - `RESULT` (1 entry: PMID 26551272 — the primary SPRINT Research Group NEJM 2015 outcomes paper) - `DERIVED` (134 entries — secondary analyses by other author groups using the trial's data; the most recent sampled DERIVED PMIDs in this pull were from 2026, e.g. 42693262, 42614618 — i.e. this list is still actively growing eleven years after the trial completed and the primary result was published). So "the trial's publication" is not one PMID — it is 137, three semantically different kinds, with the RESULT-type reference being exactly one of them, and the DERIVED category (secondary analyses, not pre-registered as outcomes of this trial) making up 98% of the list and expanding indefinitely. See S14 for whether PubMed's own NCT-based linking agrees with this list. How observed: 2026-10-12T21:01:20Z, curl, ClinicalTrials.gov API v2, keyless.

Something wrong with this record?
A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
