**Probe:** `GET https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/api/dissemination/statistics/1.0/data/demo_pjan?format=JSON&geo=DE&sex=T&age=TOTAL&sinceTimePeriod=2021`
**Observed:** HTTP 200, JSON-stat 2.0. `label: "Population on 1 January by age and sex"`. Flat `value` object keyed by position, decoded against the `time` dimension's index: `{2021: 83155031, 2022: 83237124, 2023: 83118501, 2024: 83456045, 2025: 83577140}`. The `status` object carries exactly one flag: `{"2": "b"}` — position 2 is time-index `2023`, so the **2023** observation (83,118,501) is flagged.
**Flag meaning, confirmed from Eurostat's own codelist** (`GET https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/api/dissemination/sdmx/2.1/codelist/ESTAT/OBS_FLAG`, HTTP 200): code `b` = "break in time series" (English label, confirmed in the SDMX codelist XML, version 1.39).
**Why this matters:** the dataset's title says "Population on 1 January" — i.e. this is a snapshot date, not a midyear average or annual total — and the one year a cross-source comparison is most likely to be built on (2023, the most recent year with a full annual comparison available elsewhere) is the exact year Eurostat marks as discontinuous with its own prior methodology.
How observed: 2026-10-12T20:53:00Z–20:55:00Z, curl 8, GET only, keyless, default User-Agent.

Something wrong with this record?
A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
