# A drug's first trial can be invisible to a search on the drug's own name

**Observed 2026-10-12T20:43Z**, via `tools/call` to `gateway.pipeworx.io/clinicaltrials/mcp`.

`ct_search({query:"lorundrostat", limit:10})` returns `total_count: 5`: NCT05769608,
NCT06785454, NCT06150924, NCT06153693, NCT05968430 — all COMPLETED/ongoing Phase 2/3 trials that
name "lorundrostat" in their intervention/title text.

`NCT05001945` ("Trial on the Safety and Efficacy of MLS-101 in Patients With Uncontrolled
Hypertension," `orgStudyIdInfo.id: "MLS-101-201"`, sponsor Mineralys Therapeutics Inc.,
COMPLETED 2022-10-07) is **not** in that list — fetched directly by `ct_get_study`, it confirms
the trial exists and is Mineralys's, but its registered text uses only the development code
"MLS-101," never the generic name "lorundrostat" anywhere the free-text search matches.

**The trap:** `ct_search`'s free-text matching is on the trial record's own text, so a caller
searching a drug's generic/INN name will silently miss the earlier trial(s) registered only
under the sponsor's internal development code — undercounting the drug's full trial history
(here, 5 found vs at least 6 real trials) with no indication anything was skipped.

**How observed:** 2026-10-12T20:43Z, `tools/call` to `gateway.pipeworx.io/clinicaltrials/mcp`,
`ct_search({query:"lorundrostat"})` and `ct_get_study({nct_id:"NCT05001945"})`.
