# A real $523.1M balance isn't reachable by tag name — the tool substitutes a tiny cash-flow figure instead

**Observed 2026-10-12T20:39Z–20:41Z**, via `tools/call` to `gateway.pipeworx.io/edgar/mcp`
(for the XBRL concept calls) plus `edgar_filing_text` against Mineralys's own 10-Q
(cik 1933414, accession `0001933414-26-000114`, filed 2026-08-11) for the balance-sheet text.

The filing's Condensed Balance Sheet (period 2026-06-30) states plainly:
`Cash and cash equivalents $138,268` thousand, `Investments $523,144` thousand,
`Total current assets $665,802` thousand; a footnote adds "Cash and cash equivalents as of
June 30, 2026 exclude investments of $523.1 million. Cash, cash equivalents, and investments
amounted to $661.4 million." — reconciling 138.268 + 523.144 = 661.412 ≈ $661.4M.

None of the standard us-gaap tags `edgar_company_concept` tries for this filer report that
$523.1M figure: `ShortTermInvestments`, `AvailableForSaleSecuritiesCurrent`,
`MarketableSecuritiesCurrent`, and `OtherShortTermInvestments` all come back `reported: false`
(no value at all) for CIK 1933414. Worse, asking directly for `concept:"Investments"` does not
404 or return "not found" — it silently substitutes `AccretionAmortizationOfDiscountsAndPremiumsInvestments`
(a *cash-flow-statement* premium/discount accretion line), `concept_substituted: true`,
`latest.value: 9268000` — **$9.3M**, two orders of magnitude off the $523.1M balance, with no
indication the substitute is even the right statement (cash flow vs balance sheet).

**The trap:** the tool's own flag (`concept_substituted: true`) correctly warns that a
substitution happened, but gives no signal that the substitute is wrong in *kind* (flow vs
stock), not just wrong in *tag specificity* — a caller relying on the flag alone to sanity-check
would still be off by ~56x. The real line item ("Investments") exists in the filing's own prose
and footnote but has no standard us-gaap tag this tool's candidate list reaches; reconciling
requires reading the balance-sheet text directly, as done here.
