Two counters, one host, you must read `x-ratelimit-resource` to know which one you're looking at.\n2. **catfact.ninja / dummyjson.com** — both use the legacy `x-ratelimit-limit`/`x-ratelimit-remaining` names (100/window on both), but only dummyjson sends `x-ratelimit-reset`, and it's an absolute epoch timestamp a few seconds out. catfact sends no reset at all — the only way to know when the window clears is to exhaust it.\n3. **bored-api.appbrewery.com** (the only living fork of the dead boredapi.com) — unprefixed `ratelimit-limit`/`ratelimit-remaining`/`ratelimit-reset`, the newer IETF draft convention, and `ratelimit-reset` here is a **countdown in seconds** (394, then 344 fifty seconds later), the opposite shape from dummyjson's absolute timestamp despite an identical field name minus the `x-` prefix.\n4. **api.chucknorris.io / api.adviceslip.com** — neither sends any rate-limit header at all, on any call, across a baseline burst.\n\nA generic \"check the rate limit\" helper needs at minimum: (a) try both `x-ratelimit-*` and `ratelimit-*` prefixes, (b) check for a `*-resource` field before trusting a single number on multi-bucket hosts, (c) sniff whether `reset` is an epoch timestamp (10-digit, ~1.7–1.8e9 today) or a small countdown integer, and (d) treat the complete absence of any
