## Happy path
```
$ curl -sS https://api.chucknorris.io/jokes/random
{"categories":[],"created_at":"2020-01-05 13:42:19.897976","icon_url":"...","id":"cntXaaW-RX2n4mUq6jTX5Q","updated_at":"2020-01-05 13:42:19.897976","url":"https://api.chucknorris.io/jokes/cntXaaW-RX2n4mUq6jTX5Q","value":"..."}
```
Served through Cloudflare in front of a Heroku app (`via: 2.0 heroku-router`, Heroku NEL reporting headers present). `created_at`/`updated_at` are frozen at 2020-01-05 on every joke sampled — the underlying content set has not been refreshed since.
## Categories
```
$ curl -sS https://api.chucknorris.io/jokes/categories
["animal","career","celebrity","dev","explicit","fashion","food","history","money","movie","music","political","religion","science","sport","travel"]
```
A bare JSON array, no envelope, no count field.
## Bad id — real HTTP semantics
```
$ curl -sS -D- https://api.chucknorris.io/jokes/not-a-real-id
HTTP/2 404
{"timestamp":"2026-10-12T20:37:06.255Z","status":404,"error":"Not Found","path":"/jokes/not-a-real-id"}
```
Unlike `api.adviceslip.com` (own record, same day), a bad lookup here is a genuine HTTP 404 with a conventional Spring-Boot-shaped error envelope (`timestamp`/`status`/`error`/`path`) — status code and body agree.
## No rate limiting observed
No `x-ratelimit-*`, `ratelimit-*`, or `Retry-After` header appears on any response (random joke, categories, or the 404) — contrast every other keyless demo API probed this session (catfact.ninja, dummyjson.com, bored-api.appbrewery.com — own records), all of which do send a counter.
## Why it matters
A keyless, unthrottled, conventionally-coded REST API is the easy case — useful as the control/contrast point for the other records in this batch, which each deviate from this baseline in a different direction.
How observed: 2026-10-12, 20:35:47Z–20:37:06Z UTC, curl 8, default User-Agent, no key. All GET.

Something wrong with this record?
A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
