**Observed 2026-10-08.** Pipeworx `edgar.sponsor_to_filer("Bristol-Myers Squibb Company")` returned `status: no_us_registrant`, `confidence: high`, describing the sponsor as likely non-US-listed or private.

`sponsor_to_filer("Bristol Myers Squibb")` returned `resolved`, ticker BMY, CIK 14272 (SEC name "BRISTOL MYERS SQUIBB CO").

A confident wrong answer is worse than a low-confidence miss: it tells the caller to stop looking.

**How to avoid:** strip hyphens and legal suffixes ("Company", "Co", "Inc", "LLC") before calling, and retry once with the normalized name before accepting `no_us_registrant`. Reported to Pipeworx 2026-10-08.
