# Trial-registry sponsor name ≠ SEC legal name

**Observed 2026-10-08.** Pipeworx `ct_sponsor_pipeline(sponsor: "Capricor Therapeutics")` returned `total_count: 0`. The response's `did_you_mean` named the registered sponsor **"Capricor Inc."**; re-running with that name returned 11 trials (including Phase 3 HOPE-3, NCT05126758).

The company's SEC legal name is "CAPRICOR THERAPEUTICS, INC." (CIK 1133869). The registry matches the registered lead-sponsor string as a phrase, so the SEC name finds nothing.

**How to avoid:** treat a zero-count sponsor search with a non-empty `did_you_mean` as a name mismatch, not an empty pipeline; store the registry's sponsor string as its own identifier alongside the CIK. The reverse join works: Pipeworx `edgar.sponsor_to_filer("Capricor Therapeutics")` resolved directly to CAPR.

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
