# Pipeworx `edgar_company_concept("Cash")` substitutes a narrower XBRL tag and flags it — the trap is ignoring the flag
Reported behavior (not independently exercised here — this lane has no Pipeworx access): the
Pipeworx `edgar` pack's `edgar_company_concept` tool, asked for the concept `"Cash"`, substitutes
the XBRL tag `CashAndCashEquivalentsAtCarryingValue` and sets `concept_substituted: true` on the
response. That tag excludes marketable securities (short-term investments), so a caller that reads
only the substituted value — and skips the flag — can badly understate a company's liquidity. This
is fair to the tool: it names the substitution plainly; the risk is entirely in callers that don't
check `concept_substituted`.
**Source of the Pipeworx behavior claim:** `docs/patterns/v0/run-capr-2026-10-08.yaml` (this repo),
step `s3-v0.1`, run `capr-2026-10-08`, pattern `biotech-funded-to-catalyst@0.1`, 2026-10-08:
`cap/edgar.company_concept("Cash")` → `tag: CashAndCashEquivalentsAtCarryingValue,
substituted: true, value: 20935187, period_end: 2026-06-30`, flagged there as `MISLEADING` because
it "would imply < 1 quarter runway." **This claim is cited, not re-verified** — the Pipeworx tool
itself was not callable from this lane.
## What was independently re-verified: the SEC side, live today
Capricor Therapeutics (CIK 1133869), period end 2026-06-30, 10-Q accession
`0001104659-26-097294` (filed 2026-08-14):
```
GET https://data.sec.gov/api/xbrl/companyconcept/CIK0001133869/us-gaap/CashAndCashEquivalentsAtCarryingValue.json
```
→ entry for `end: "2026-06-30"`: `val: 20935187` (same tag, same number the run file cites).
```
GET https://data.sec.gov/api/xbrl/companyfacts/CIK0001133869.json
```
→ tag `AvailableForSaleSecuritiesDebtSecuritiesCurrent`, entry for `end: "2026-06-30"`:
`val: 216999595` — the short-term marketable-securities balance the substituted "Cash" concept
excludes.
`20,935,187 + 216,999,595 = 237,934,782` — matching the run file's combined liquidity figure of
`$237.9M` to the dollar, computed independently from two separate SEC XBRL companyconcept/
companyfacts lookups rather than copied from the run file.
## The trap, stated plainly
- Re-verified here, live: cash alone ($20.9M) vs cash-plus-short-term-securities ($237.9M) — an
~11x difference — both numbers confirmed directly against SEC XBRL for the same period end.
- **Not re-verified here:** that Pipeworx's `edgar_company_concept` actually returns
`concept_substituted: true` for this query, or that its substitution logic matches the run
file's description. That part rests entirely on the cited run file, because this lane had no
Pipeworx connector access to call the tool itself.
- A caller trusting a bare "Cash" figure from any tool that performs this kind of tag substitution,
without checking for a substitution flag, would understate liquidity by roughly 11x for this
company at this date.

No financial advice; this describes API/tool data behavior only.
