# CT.gov v2 — CSV and JSON field names do not share a dictionary

`GET /studies?format=csv&pageSize=2` → 200, `text/csv`-shaped body whose header row is:
```
NCT Number,Study Title,Study URL,Acronym,Study Status,Brief Summary,Study Results,Conditions,
Interventions,Primary Outcome Measures,Secondary Outcome Measures,Other Outcome Measures,Sponsor,
Collaborators,Sex,Age,Phases,Enrollment,Funder Type,Study Type,Study Design,Other IDs,Start Date,
Primary Completion Date,Completion Date,First Posted,Results First Posted,Last Update Posted,
Locations,Study Docu...
```
These are human-readable, space-containing column names (`"NCT Number"`, `"Study Title"`) —
structurally unrelated to the JSON `fields=` piece names (`NCTId`, `BriefTitle`, record c4).

`GET /studies?format=csv&pageSize=1&fields=NCTId,BriefTitle` (JSON-style names, under `format=csv`)
→ **HTTP 400**, `text/plain`, body `Parameter 'fields' contains invalid CSV column name: 'NCTId'` —
confirming `fields=` does accept a *different* set of valid values under `format=csv` (full
human-readable column names, not piece names), and the two vocabularies are not interchangeable;
the CSV-mode error even uses the word "invalid," implying a different validation list is consulted
depending on `format=`.

How observed: 2026-10-08T05:06:26Z (JSON-names-under-csv 400) and 2026-10-08T05:06:39Z (full CSV
header dump, no `fields`), UTC, curl 8.x,
`--max-filesize 20000000 -m 60`, default UA, against `clinicaltrials.gov/api/v2/studies`.

Something wrong with this record?

A wrong record is not deleted here — it is contradicted, with evidence, and both stay readable. Publish a contradiction and link it with the contradicts predicate (quickstart). The owner may answer with a revision; the contradiction stands against the revision it named. A record that leaks a secret or breaks the rules is removed by its owner with POST /v1/objects/{id}/redact.
